Hello, I hope you are doing well this winter season! It took quite a bit of Christmas magic for me to reach you, so while the gift might not be what you would like to have received, I still hope that it's to your liking!
Happy Holidays,
Santa Claus
[Azul will receive a new, coat! It has a nice, fleece lining in it to help fight off the chill of the sea and winter weather! There's also a ton of candies stuffed into the pockets along with a bag of ultra delicious chocolate chip cookies!]
... Except there is two problems with this: the first is that Azul has very little idea of what Christmas is or who Santa is, which leads into the second problem, which is that he does not know why someone gifted him these things and now he has to figure out how he is supposed to repay this "Santa" person that he is now indebted to???]
[Happy Valentine’s, Azul. There’s a random gift placed outside his door (or wherever) with a simple boxed lunch and some chocolates. No letter or anything from who it’s from, so hope he enjoys the random gift.]
[Between this and the mysterious Santa from two months ago, Azul is starting to think the gods of this place hate him specifically for making it hard to determine who he nows owes a debt toward with all these anonymous gifts. (Even though, logically, you're not technically obligated to do something in return for gifts, but this is Azul we are talking about so good luck explaining that to him.)
Still... it would be rude and wasteful to not eat food that's been gifted to him once he's checked that it's not poisoned like the paranoid octopus he is, thanks to the lack of note, even if it means his calorie intake might end up off for the day. So thank you, Azul actually ate a proper meal for once today due to the boxed lunch.]
[Mysteriously there are boxes left at Azul's apartment today, beautifully wrapped. They contain a gorgeous hand-made set of cufflinks made from the scales on Ocard with a matching tie in a strange, shimmering silk. They are predominantly purple, but there's a bit of a teal shimmer to them. There's also a very gorgeous pen, also handmade.
The mysterious gifter left no name on the items or the attached birthday card (it's a little painting of Eltrut with a Birthday Hat), but it is very mysteriously in his boss/landlord's handwriting.
[... It's not an immediate message, but Kaveh will receive one at some point mid-afternoon after Azul arrives back to his apartment from other business and finds the boxes.]
Thank you for the birthday gifts, Kaveh-san.
[Sorry, he figured it out very quickly, but at least he's being grateful?]
[ so, the edge of the forest, huh. that's always fun.
kit's looking out towards the fluttering shapes in the distance that they've been asked to investigate, though azul was the one who invited them to do so. does he need them for something? wondering aloud: ]
Are they supposed to be ingredients, or...?
[ kit doesn't really know how this whole magic thing works, aside from the tattoos he and surge got when they first got here. he knows that it feels harder to use water like he always has, but aside from that, it's hard to tell the difference. ]
[ surge squints as she watches the moths flutter about, because she's never seen them before is why she can question curiously. coming from a world where most animals are in their shape, and very few are... like this, it's shocking to see so many at one time, and they came out of nowhere too. ]
You think they're from another world?
[ anyone picking up what she's putting down. ] 'Cuz like, why are they an issue, they're just... flying.
I suspect that they are native to this world, as it did not seem like the moths themselves were considered strange to the locals here so much as figuring out why they appear the way they do.
[Azul says, as he writes something down on his notepad here without looking up yet. On the surface, Azul seems the same as ever: he had been cheerful enough when asking Surge and Kit to accompany him on this particular endeavor, then tunnel-vision focusing on the work that needed to be done once they got here and found a place to wait for the appearance of the moths.]
Regardless, the wings of some moths can be a valuable ingredient for a lot of different potions, so I'd like to try to catch some to take back with us to my workshop in addition to fulfilling the request to study them in their natural habitat. Or at the very least, find a means to see if their wings have any scales that can be brushed off and collected as a sample, if we are unable to catch any of the moths themselves.
[Then again, that may not be a particularly hard endeavor to accomplish the longer they sit out here, as it looks like some of the moths are breaking away from the group and beginning to drift in our direction...]
[ a few of the moths have already begun making their way over now, trickling away from their companions as if curious about their new visitors. they're supposed to be harmless, right? at least, that's what the locals seemed to think, but he still presses himself a little closer to surge as they approach—fluttering right in their direction, even.
kit takes a bit of a protective step forward. not so much as to be largely noticeable by surge, but enough that the first moth to land chooses the tip of his nose rather than hers.
his eyes grow big and round, but when he breathes in a bit to say something— ]
A—choo!
no worries :) youre just an end closer like honse game
[ surge doesn't get the whole science side of his, but if azul wants them for whatever concoction he has going on then she'll see to it. besides, having a job means doing what's asked sort of, and it is kind of neat thinking how angel fish will utilize something like this. like what could he even get out of scraping off scales, but what did starline get by scooping out their innards so maybe there's some method to the madness here. ]
How many do you think you're gunna need, you might as well take a boy and a girl then mate'm.
[ she wouldn't even know what classifies as that, but as one comes closer to kit right to the point of perching on his nose.
A—
in surge's mind resonates as "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH SURGE HELP ME IT'S GOT ME" without the choo, and she follows up with punching kitsunami right in his face to whack at the moth to kill it in the process. ]
Hell yeah! Drippy got us one, look, look! [ she's looking to azul for their praise. ]
[ Inside a nicely wrapped package and addressed to Azul is a mystery gift that will contain a pair of fuzzy earmuffs that manage to dampen sound a little while also keeping ears warm. There is no name to say who it is from, but the note (made from letters and words cut out from newspapers) says, "Happy Winterstide."
Sherlock had no idea what was in the mystery gift, but the powers that be decided that Azul could use something to help with the 3 AM violin playing. He also was being neighborly. ]
[ If he wants to use plausible deniability, no name means whoops, no way for him to figure out who this was and thus no way or responsibility to give something back.
Got more important things to worry about, anyways. ]

Have you heard of chai tea?

I have. Why do you ask?

I met a merchant on the street that had been arguing with someone about if it should be called, "chai tea" or only "chai" and it was a bit heated.
Do you know what the proper name should be?

I've never had something like chai before. What does it taste like? Do you prefer it?
